Open Coil Mattresses

Our Open Coil Mattresses are the perfect combination of comfort and affordability, with soft, supported springs topped with luxury fabrics including memory foam for strong, cushioned support.

Open coil mattresses offer a good level of support with interlinked springs, in a similar way to a pocket spring mattress but without the individual pockets to separate the springs.  The use of open coil springs makes the mattress more lightweight and easy to turn regularly which helps extend the lifetime of your mattress.  The open coils usually give the mattress a bit more bounce than others, as the weight on the mattress is distributed across the surface of the mattress.

Our range of open coil mattresses includes the Balmoral, a medium/soft mattress which can be turned and used on both sides and is an ideal, long-lasting lightweight mattress. Our Mayfair and Chelsea mattresses are both excellent choices, explore the memory foam top layer for support and 3D vent border on the mayfair to help keep cool in summer months.

We also offer Kids Foam Free Sprung mattresses in a range of bright, fun colours, perfect for your little ones with waterproofing options for extra protection and security.

FAQ’s

Open coil mattresses are designed with a system of springs that provide support and comfort while you sleep. These mattresses do not have individual pockets to separate the springs, making them more lightweight and easy to turn.

Open coil mattresses and pocket sprung mattresses both offer support through springs, but the main difference lies in the construction. Open coil mattresses have interlinked springs, while pocket sprung mattresses have individual pockets for each spring. This means that pocket sprung mattresses provide more targeted support and minimise motion transfer.

Open coil mattresses are a versatile choice as they offer a strong level of support. However, the suitability may vary depending on personal preferences and sleeping positions. Generally, open coil mattresses are suitable for back and stomach sleepers, but side sleepers may prefer mattresses with additional cushioning, for example a memory foam mattress.

Yes, open coil mattresses provide plenty of comfortable support. Many open coil mattresses are topped with luxury fabrics, including memory foam, to enhance cushioning and improve overall comfort. The combination of soft, supported springs and quality materials ensures a comfortable sleep experience.

To extend the lifespan of your open coil mattress, it is recommended to turn it regularly. Turning the mattress helps distribute the weight evenly and minimises wear on specific areas. As open coil mattresses are lightweight, they are easier to turn compared to other mattress types. It is generally advised to turn the mattress every few months or as recommended by the manufacturer.
