An ottoman bed is a type of storage bed that features space within the footprint of the bed to store away your belongings. Unlike divan beds, the storage space within an ottoman bed essentially takes up the entire footprint of the bed. So the larger bed you opt for, the larger the storage space you can take advantage of. 

The storage space is accessed via a lifting platform which lifts up your mattress with a simple pull up action. The mattress platform is assisted by gas powered pistons which help you to lift the platform when you need to access your belongings. They also assist you in safely lowering the platform too once you’ve finished accessing the items you’ve stored away.

Small Single Ottoman Beds

Measuring 75cm wide by 190cm long (2ft 6in x 6ft 3in), our small single ottoman beds are a great option for your child’s bedroom or solo sleepers who have small bedrooms.

Small Double Ottoman Beds 

Small double ottoman beds measure 120cm wide by 190cm long (4ft x 6ft 3in). Placed neatly in-between single beds and doubles, they’re perfect for those with tight spaces or smaller bedrooms. Whilst not quite as wide as a double bed, they do offer enough space for sleeping couples or solo sleepers who like to spread out and get comfy.

King Size Ottoman Beds

Measuring in at 150cm wide by 200cm long (5ft x 6ft 6in), king size ottoman beds provide plenty of space for couples, whether you like to snuggle up or sleep in your own ‘space’. They also offer a vast amount of storage space within your bed too, perfect for storing away your belongings. 

Super King Size Ottoman Beds

Super king size ottoman beds measure 180cm wide by 200cm long (6ft x 6ft 6in) and are the ultimate choice if you’re looking for a luxurious bed that really makes a statement in your bedroom. All the sleeping space you need and lots of space to de-clutter your bedroom too. 

Whilst assembling an ottoman bed is more complex than building a divan bed and potentially a bed frame (this is a matter of perspective), it’s certainly not something you should be worried about, especially when each and every one of our ottoman beds come with helpful instructions. 

Ottoman beds essentially come in two large parts that easily clip together to form the base of your bed. The most ‘fiddly’ part and probably the most important aspect is ensuring the gas piston is assembled and installed correctly. This will ensure the ottoman bed opens effectively and safely too. 

Our helpful instructions that arrive with your ottoman bed will instruct you exactly how to ensure this step and all other aspects of assembling your ottoman bed are implemented correctly.

One of the great benefits of an ottoman bed is of course the vast storage space they provide. But all that storage space isn’t as appealing if the process of accessing it in the first place isn’t easy and straightforward. Luckily, opening and closing an ottoman bed isn’t difficult, especially with the help of the gas-assisted pistons. 

They help you to open the ottoman bed and hold it in place whilst you access your belongings. Then when you’ve finished accessing the storage space, the pistons help you to safely lower the mattress platform too. 

Ottoman beds are a safe and easy to use product as long as you’re being sensible and follow any manufacturer guidelines on weight limits. When using your ottoman bed and accessing the storage space within, be aware of your surroundings and any children or pets within the vicinity. Prevent them from playing or climbing inside the ottoman bed storage space and be sure to double check inside when closing the bed.

My experience with Sloomy has been extremely disappointing from start to finish. The bed ordered via Debenhams for my vulnerable mother-in-law, who suffers from COPD and has limited mobility following a stroke, failed to arrive on the scheduled delivery date with no communication, update, or explanation. We had spent the day preparing for the delivery, including removing her existing bed, only to be left without any bed at all when the delivery failed to turn up. As a result, she was forced to spend the night sleeping on a sofa, causing significant discomfort and distress given her medical conditions. Despite the seriousness of the situation, there was little acknowledgment of the impact this had. When the bed finally arrived the following day, we discovered that the headboard could not be assembled because the required fittings were either missing or defective. What should have been a straightforward resolution turned into a frustrating and prolonged process. Attempts to obtain support have been met with slow responses, with Debenhams and sloomy passignbuck between each other, repeated requests for the same information, and a complete lack of ownership of the issue. We have been repeatedly asked to wait for escalations that never seem to happen, provide photographs multiple times, and start the process over with different agents who appear unaware of previous correspondence. Most concerning has been the apparent lack of urgency despite it being made clear that the customer affected is vulnerable. The combination of a missed delivery, poor communication, an incomplete product, lengthy delays in customer service responses, and failure to resolve the problem promptly has left us with very little confidence in Sloomy's customer care. Overall, this experience has been stressful, frustrating, and wholly unacceptable. I would not expect a vulnerable customer to be treated in this manner, and I hope significant improvements are made to both delivery reliability and after-sales support.

I ordered my sons bed to arrive two days before his birthday, I was pleasantly surprised when I received a text message to say it would actually arrive 6 days before his birthday, delivery was scheduled between 6am and 11am. On the delivery day I was at work and by 2.30pm I received a message saying the delivery van had broken down and they would contact me with an alternative date. Now I can understand that these things happen, what I do not understand and was infuriating was that I must have rang the landline number 20 times and the mobile number used to text me the same amount of times and that no one pciked up or answered the phone. The landline number just rang 5 times and then went dead. The service was shocking and being in limbo worrying if my son would get his bed before his birthday was frustrating. I did eventually get my bed at 6.35am on a bank holiday Monday morning!! I will admit the actual bed is very good quality and I cannot understimate this My advice for this company is that be aware if something goes wrong then you will be annoyed an frustrated

I would strongly advise others to think carefully before ordering from Sloomy. The bed I received was faulty and not fit for use. From the outset, resolving the issue was made unnecessarily difficult. Despite explaining that I am disabled, I was repeatedly asked to repackage and handle a large, broken bed using the original packaging, which was not a reasonable or accessible request. When I asked for communication by email as a reasonable adjustment, this was ignored. I was instead pushed into phone contact, and when I explained I record calls to help manage my disability, the representative refused to continue the conversation. At no point was a fair or practical resolution offered. The overall handling of this issue shows a complete lack of customer care and disregard for accessibility. This has been stressful, upsetting, and entirely avoidable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.
